The staff at Storybook Academy are all highly qualified and have been thoroughly background checked, screened, and are required to hold and maintain all applicable professional childcare certifications.
Laura Adams RN, BSN, RNCC
Managing Director of Storybook Academy
Laura’s professional journey includes over twenty years of experience as a Registered Nurse. Laura has extensive experience in variety of acute care settings including critical care, emergency room, pediatrics, telemetry, and care coordination.
Laura has an exceptionally strong professional background in both management and care-giving roles. These roles translate easily into the child care industry. Laura has also achieved both continuing education and life skills such as critical communications, problem-solving, trauma experience, and critical thinking. All of these life skills prove invaluable to both childcare and management.
Laura holds her Bachelor's degree in Nursing. She is continuing her educational pursuits and is nearing the end of her Master's degree in Hospital and Business Administration. She holds both her ALS and BLS certifications along with multiple continuing education certifications. She regularly pursues continuing education in both nursing and childcare. Laura's mom was a teacher who valued education and her dad was a doctor who inspired her healing journey. Laura credits her parents as her inspirations for her professional journey in both health and childcare.
Laura's experience of becoming a mom along with her deep love of children, animals, and the outdoor world inspired her to create a higher level of childcare in the Santa Maria Valley through Storybook Academy.
Laura serves as both the on-site director and nurse at Storybook Academy. She strives to make Storybook Academy the best in-home family childcare and nature-based preschool in the region. This fulfills her not only professionally, but also as a mom and fellow parent. The program at Storybook Academy was designed to reach a higher level for her own children and as well as for all those who join the Storybook family. Laura considers being mom to her two sons the highest possible honor and privilege.

Audrie Michael
Storybook Academy Lead Educator
Toddler and Early Learning Childcare Assistant
Audrie's fun energy, happy demeanor, and heartfelt love for educating children made her a natural choice for Storybook Academy's lead teacher position. At Storybook Academy, Audrie loves developing our weekly lesson plans, teaching classes outdoors in nature, and leading the children through our early learning curriculum where the focus is on Nature, STEM, and Reggio Emilia inspired learning practices.
Audrie's background includes working with children ages K-6th grade at Nipomo elementary school providing intervention for students focusing on ELA standards and Math standards. Additionally, prior to this, Audrie, worked as a full-time nanny of foster children ages ranging from birth to five years old.
Audrie's educational journey includes a Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Health from Grand Canyon University. This has provided her with education in both human development and social-emotional development. Audrie also holds all requires certifications including her CPR/First Aide, Mandated Reporter, and Preventative Health and Safety Certifications. Additionally, Audrie plans to continue her childcare educational journey by completing additional early childhood educational units through Allan Hancock. Audrie always strives to ensure all children can process and work through their emotions and feelings in a positive way.
Trysha Bouchard
Infant Childcare Assistant
Trysha Bouchard's educational background and extensive childcare experience made her a natural choice for our Storybook Academy's childcare assistant. Trysha deeply cares for each child's well-being and her experience allows her to cater to each child's individual needs.
Her educational journey began through Allan Hancock College, where she successfully completed 27 ECS units in Early Childhood Studies. Additionally, she has completed multiple certifications including: BLS in CPR/first aide for adults and pediatrics, Mandated Reporter, and Preventative Health and Safety certification.
Professionally, Trysha most recently served as a Teacher's Aide at Delmore Family Child Care. She has also served as a Teacher's Assistant at Peace Lutheran Preschool. She was a Classroom Aide for TK at Nipomo Elementary School. Additionally, she has extensive childcare experience as a private nanny for multiple families over the years and comes to Storybook Academy with exceptional references.
Lindsey Jarvis
Musical Enrichment Program Leader
Childcare Assistant Substitute
Lindsey's education includes a degree in Music and Dramatic Arts.
Additionally, she has helped to lead the Pajama Drama program for Music and Creative Play in our Community. Lindsey has also previously served as a Back-up child care assistant at other local daycares. She holds all required and mandated certifications as required of all Storybook Academy employees, including CPR/First Aide, preventative Health & Safety, and Mandatory Reporter.
Lindsey Jarvis has served at Storybook Academy since it opened and serves to continue enrich our Storybook Academy program with both music and creative play. Lindsey has assisted in the curriculum development process and implementation at Storybook Academy.
She is an exceptional child caregiver who leads with her heart and always has a kind word to inspire and support those around her. Her calming presence at Storybook Academy serves to support and strengthen all those she comes around whether it’s the children, staff, or families.
She came to Storybook Academy highly recommended. Her recent experience as a mom to two beautiful children only enhances her childcare strengths and further qualifies her as an exceptional asset to our Storybook academy team.
Peaches:
Storybook Academy Ambassador
Peaches is our lovable bundle of Labradoodle fluff who adores kids and supports all Storybook Academy endeavors by providing happy barks, running in circles, and comedic relief. She is a huge supporter of receiving treats on a timely basis. She is happy to receive all of the attention and loves to get lots of pets through the fence. While, Peaches is not yet trained in pet therapy she regularly provides both emotional support and her opinions just the same.
Emmy:
Storybook Academy Ambassador in Training
Emmy is a little and loveable labradoodle puppy who loves everyone and basically just tries to live up to Peaches high standards. Children are allowed to pet both pups through the fence and both dogs have been raised around and love all of the attention.

Laura’s professional journey includes over twenty years of experience as a Registered Nurse, She has worked in a variety of acute care settings, including critical care, emergency room, pediatrics, telemetry, and care coordination. Laura has a strong background in both management and care-giving roles.
In addition to her background in healthcare, Laura also has a deep passion for for children. As the oldest child in her family, she frequently assumed a caregiving role for her younger siblings.
However, Laura’s recent experience as a mother to two wonderful boys, now aged 4 and 6, has provided her with a mother’s experience. Laura considers the opportunity to be a mom to Ashton and Leo as the highest possible honor and privilege.
